I first heard of Mike Bithell when looking for games for my
emotional attachment to video games essay. He created a game called Thomas was
alone which I was suggested to play to help. Thomas alone was a very good
platformer game but the story was excellent. Talked a bit about how he was
shocked at the response he got for Thomas was alone and that he wanted it to be
more about the puzzle platformer than the story. He also talked about his game
in development Volume a stealth game loosely based on Robin Hood, and how
interesting it was finding out all the different variants of Robin Hood there
is.
Mike was also at Eurogamer which he talked more about how it
to be in the gaming industry and what it is like to be an indie developer. His
points were very interesting and brought up questions that I need to ask when I
do my own work.
- · I need to get other people to look at my work to get another persons view on it
- · Taking the other persons view I should change/develop my idea a bit more
- · I shouldn’t delete something if I don’t like it at a time because I might regret it later on
I will be watching this games development and seeing how
Mike Bithell puts his own little twist on the legend that is Robin Hood.
